During its traditional inauguration, the Geneva Watchmaking Grand Prix presented on October 16, the Jury’s preselected watches for the Grand Prix’s 8th edition. .
Over 70 watches, in the Women – Men – Design – Jewellery – Sport – Highly complex and finally Full calendar categories can be admired as of October 17 in the UBS bank – the event partner - rue de la Corraterie 5, in the centre of Geneva.
For the 2008 vintage, many were present at the invitation of the inauguration cocktail, hosted by Jean-François Beausoleil, Head of UBS Geneva Region who stressed the importance of Geneva, the capital of watchmaking and watchmaking expertise.
The UBS exhibit hall strikingly highlights these exclusive watches in an illuminated and secure display cabinet. The trophy “The Golden Hand”, created by the artist Roger Pfund and the Watchmaking Grand Prix’s ultimate award, is on display next to the Richard Mille watch's picture, which was the winner of this award in 2007.
The exhibit will be open for over a month and visitors will be able to cast their ballot for their favourite watches either there or directly on the website www.worldtempus.com, in order to award the Public prize.
The Geneva Watchmaking Grand Prix 2008 will take place on November 13th at Geneva’s Grand Théâtre. It will gather together all of the International watchmaking profession. Over the course of the evening, 12 prizes will be awarded: the winners of the prizes in the categories exhibited at UBS will be awarded, as well as the Best watchmaker prize, the Special jury prize, the Public prize and of course the “Golden Hand” Grand prize.
