Born in 1953 in the Joux Valley, Michel Berney holds an ETS (Ecole Technique Supérieure) degree in mechanical engineering from the Higher Engineering School of Vaud and an STA (Swiss Technical Association) diploma in business administration.

After working at the Automatic Control Laboratory of the Federal Institute of Technology in Lausanne and holding different company positions with Baumgartner Papiers S.A., he joined the Edipresse Group in 1991 as assistant director of the Bussigny printing centre, now known as the Edipresse Printing Centre-Lausanne (CIE-L), and of which he was director from 1992 to 1998.

In 1998 he became Director of Newspaper Printing Plants (CIE-L, CIE-G, PréPresse). Since 2005, Michel Berney holds the position of Director of «Services and Printing» which oversees all of Edipresse Switzerland's industrial operations (CIE-L, CIE-G, IRL, Polymedia, Computer Services). He is a member of the Management team of Edipresse Switzerland.

He is taking new responsibilities since October 2008 as the General Director of the Edipresse Printing Centre (CIE), and as such, he is leaving the Management of Edipresse Switzerland and reporting directly to Théo Bouchat.
