Born in 1957, Eric Hoesli obtained a Jurist degree from the University of Lausanne in 1979 and then a postgraduate degree in Geneva from the University institute for Studies in Development in 1981. He then quickly chose to pursue a career in the communications field.

After working at the Community of Swiss Development Organisations, he joined the Hebdo Editorial Department, where he trained as a journalist, participated in the Nouveau Quotidien, and then served as Editorial Director for the weekly l'Hebdo. In 1997, he was appointed to lead the project of merging the Journal de Genève and the Nouveau Quotidien and then became the first Editorial Director and Director of the daily Le Temps.

Since September 2005, Eric Hoesli is the Director of Edipresse's Regional Publications. He is a member of the Management Team of Edipresse Switzerland.

In January 2009, he will be Editorial Director of all the Edipresse's publications .
