Born in 1966, Cristina Simion has a background and experience in journalism, marketing and management.

She began her career in the media as a proofreader and then worked as a reporter and editor for a local daily newspaper in Iasi. In 1992, after graduating from the BBC Radio Journalism School, she joined Nord Est Media Group as Program Manager of Radio Nord Est, where she later became General Manager.

After a period as Marketing, Sales and Distribution Manager of Monitorul (the main Romanian network of daily newspapers), she moved to Bucharest in 1997 and joined Edipresse AS Romania, as Marketing Manager.

She went on to be promoted to Editorial Director, Deputy General Manager and finally, in 2002, she was appointed as Managing Director.

Cristina Simion already has a Masters in Science from the Technical University of Iasi and she is now completing her Ph.D. in Change Management at the same university. Since 1995, she has been an associate professor of Marketing and Management in Media at the universities of Bucharest and Iasi. She also is a graduate of Stanford Professional Publishing Course and of the FIPP Executive Management Certificate programme.
