Olivier Toublan is to be the new chief editor of Bilan, succeeding Alain Jeannet on 1 January 2003. Mr Jeannet is leaving to take charge at L'Hebdo.
Thirty-five years old, Olivier Toublan is a member of Bilan's inner circle and is currently deputy chief editor of the economic monthly of French-speaking Switzerland. He holds a doctorate in economics and a degree in theology, and began his journalistic career with L'Agefi, moving to Bilan three years ago.
A specialist in financial questions, he was involved in the preparation of the French language reference manual on accounting, Maîtriser l'information comptable, by Professors Alfred Stettler and Bernard Apothéloz. His doctoral thesis at Lausanne University's business school was on the responsibility of companies to society.
At Bilan he made a major contribution to launching the magazine's new presentation and to its success in the market over the past two years.
A replacement deputy chief editor will be advertised for shortly.
