Edipresse is about to reorganize its management. The aim is both to plan for the succession of two members of its general management team and to give the group a management structure capable of maintaining growth in an increasingly demanding and competitive environment.
The Group's Managing Director and main shareholder, Pierre Lamunière, will concentrate in future on the duties of Chief Executive Officer. Continuing to work full time at Edipresse, he will be in charge of Group strategy, fixing objectives, supervising management and monitoring content.
From 1 October 2001, operational responsibility for the business will devolve to Jean-Claude Marchand, who has been appointed as Chief Operating Officer of the Edipresse Group. Aged 55, he was previously an executive member of the Board of Directors of the British news group Reuters.
The appointment of Mr Marchand will coincide with the retirement of Marcel A. Pasche, currently Deputy Managing Director of the Edipresse Group. During an exceptional career with Edipresse spanning nearly 45 years, Marcel A. Pasche contributed greatly to the company's evolution from a Swiss local newspaper publisher to an international press group operating on a Europe-wide scale. He will continue to work on specific projects with the Group's Spanish subsidiary.
Tibère Adler, aged 38, has been appointed to the post of Deputy Managing Director of Edipresse Switzerland with immediate effect. He will eventually succeed Paul Miskiewicz, Managing Director of Edipresse Switzerland, who will reach retirement age in 2003.
Edipresse Switzerland covers all the Edipresse Group's operations in Switzerland, both in the fields of publishing (in particular 24 heures, Tribune de Genève, Le Matin) and printing.
Finally, in order to enhance complementarity between the Internet and traditional newspaper and magazine publishing operations, the Edipresse Online division (in charge of multimedia development) will be integrated into Edipresse Switzerland from September 2001.
