Tibère Adler, CEO of Edipresse, is leaving the Group after 22 years.
During its general assembly of June 6, 2011, the Edipresse Group took leave of its CEO Tibère Adler, who will resign from his position at the end of June. Tibère Adler, 48 years old, started his collaboration with the Edipresse Group in 1989 and became its CEO in February 2005.
Since 2009, the Edipresse Group committed itself to profoundly change its strategy by separating the Group into two areas, each with its distinct strategy. In Switzerland, Edipresse associated itself with Tamedia to operationally merge all of its newspaper-related activities. For all other activities, Edipresse decided to strengthen its own activities in magazine publishing (mainly in Eastern Europe and Asia), and its Internet and Real Estate activities. The initial date set for reaching this goal was end of 2012.
This phase of strategic development is henceforth finished. In Switzerland, the takeover of the Newspaper publishing activities by Tamedia was moved forward and went into effect in April 2011. For the other activities, the Edipresse Group’s figures returned to black in 2010 already. Finally, Lamunière SA just launched its tender offer on the balance of the capital-shares of Edipresse SA, with the objective of constituting a purely family-based company and of terminating its listing on the Swiss Stock exchange.
Tibère Adler has contributed in an essential way to implementing the strategy. He leaves the Group in perfect harmony with its Board of Directors and its shareholders, leaving behind him a solid company, resting on a healthy base.
Pierre Lamunière, President and Chairman of Edipresse, states: “I thank Tibère Adler for his very positive contribution to the progress and development of the Group. He was present for all of the company’s important moments over the past 20 years. We look forward with pleasure to pursuing our collaboration with him on a mandate basis, in particular in Asia.”
For his part, Tibère Adler talks about his relationship with Edipresse: “I had the great fortune to be able to take part for over 22 years in a tremendous media adventure in Switzerland and abroad. I particularly thank the Lamunière family, the majority shareholder, with whom I was able to develop a relationship based on high quality trust. I am leaving this company at the appropriate moment. This is a pivotal period from which a new chapter will be written for the company.”
Following this change, the Edipresse Group will reorganize its management as of July 1, 2011. Pierre Lamunière, president and chairman, will from now on be in charge of the company’s general management. Michel Preiswerk, currently CFO, will see his position developed into that of “chief operating officer” (COO). The remaining general management team will not change.
Tibère Adler will pursue his ties with Edipresse on the basis of mandates, in particular in Asia. Otherwise, Tibère Adler will concentrate at first on the management of a portfolio of mandates from various Boards of Directors, including that of Tamedia (that took over all of Edipresse Switzerland’s newspapers). In parallel, he will pursue personal projects, such as entrepreneur or top manager mentoring, and such as investments for his own account. Notably as of September 1, 2011, he will become Chairman of the Board of Directors of Digital Luxury Group, DLG S.A. (formerly IC-Agency), a leading company in Geneva in digital marketing (especially social networks) for luxury brands; he is also a company shareholder.
