Following his studies in the United States (MBA Wharton School, University of Pennsylvania), Pierre Lamunière joined the Edipresse Group in 1977, becoming General Manager in 1986 and then Chairman and Chief Executive Officer in 1998. Effective February 2005, he stood down from operational management of the Group, but continues to act as Chairman and Executive Director of the Board of Directors.

He is a Director of Lamunière SA and its subsidiaries. From May 2007 to September 2009, Pierre Lamunière has been president of the management board of the International Federation of the Periodical Press (FIPP).
Since 2008, he is a member of the Board of Directors of the Banque Cantonale Vaudoise. Since June 2009, he is a member of the Board of Directors of Tamedia AG.
